Rania Derian, a Certified Public Accountant, is an expert in governance, risk management, and internal audit, with a substantial background in financial assurance and advisory services. Rania’s extensive experience is marked by her leadership as the Head of Group Internal Audit for a prominent bank in Lebanon, where she oversaw a team of 70 auditors across operations in the Middle East Including Iraq, Europe, and North Africa for over a decade.
Rania managed internal audit teams in Iraq for several years and is well acquainted with the Central Bank of Iraq regulations.
Her professional journey also includes establishing the audit function for a leading chemical company in the region, demonstrating her proficiency in developing robust governance and internal control systems tailored to complex operational landscapes. Rania’s early career at PWC further solidified her expertise in financial audits and assurance roles, handling clients across various sectors.
Rania’s governance expertise is evident in her strategic oversight and implementation of robust frameworks that ensure compliance, ethical conduct, and effective risk management. She excels in refining governance structures to be adaptable and transparent, enhancing organizational integrity and accountability. Rania’s leadership extends to guiding senior management and board members with insights that strengthen decision-making and promote a culture of compliance.
She holds an Executive MBA and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut, alongside a Law Degree from Lebanese University.
